Privacy Policy
Last updated: 31 May 2026
Apple Plumbing & Electrical (Pty) Ltd (“we”, “us”, “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act, 4 of 2013 (POPIA). This policy explains what we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the rights you have over your information.
1. Who we are
Apple Plumbing & Electrical (Pty) Ltd is a plumbing and electrical service business owned and managed by Garth Blair, operating across Sandton, Midrand and Northern Johannesburg. You can contact us on 082 886 9119 or garth@appleplumbing.co.za.
2. Information we collect
- Contact details you give us (name, phone, email, address) when you request a quote, book a job, or submit a form.
- Job details you share so we can scope and price the work (photos, descriptions of the problem, property access information).
- Communication records — WhatsApp messages, emails, SMS and call records relating to your enquiry or job.
- Payment information for invoicing. Card details are processed by third-party providers; we do not store them.
- Website usage data — IP address, browser type, pages visited, referrer. See our Cookie Policy.
3. Why we collect it (lawful basis)
- To respond to your enquiry and provide the service you requested (contract / pre-contractual steps).
- To invoice you and keep accounting records (legal obligation).
- To issue Certificates of Compliance and submit them where required by law (legal obligation).
- To improve our website and services (legitimate interest).
- To send occasional maintenance tips or service updates, only if you opt in (consent — you can withdraw at any time).
4. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with:
- Trusted sub-contractors or suppliers strictly to complete your job.
- Our accountants and the South African Revenue Service for tax and invoicing compliance.
- The Plumbing Industry Registration Board (PIRB) and Department of Employment & Labour where a Certificate of Compliance must be lodged.
- Hosting, email, payment and analytics providers under written confidentiality terms.
- Law enforcement or regulators where we are legally required to.
5. How long we keep it
We keep job records, invoices and COCs for at least 5 years to meet South African tax and trade-compliance obligations. Marketing contact details are kept until you ask us to delete them. Website analytics are retained for up to 26 months.
6. Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information — encrypted connections (HTTPS), access controls on our email and accounting systems, and limiting who can see job records. No system is perfectly secure; in the unlikely event of a breach affecting your data we will notify you and the Information Regulator as required by POPIA.
7. Your rights under POPIA
- Access the personal information we hold about you.
- Correct or update information that is wrong or incomplete.
- Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.
- Object to direct marketing at any time.
- Withdraw consent where we relied on it.
- Lodge a complaint with the Information Regulator (inforegulator.org.za).
To exercise any of these rights, email garth@appleplumbing.co.za. We respond within 30 days.
8. Children
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date at the top will always reflect the latest version.
