DB board upgrades in Midrand — what we actually find

The question is usually whether the existing board can be extended or has to be replaced, and that is answered by opening it and counting.

Midrand is mostly newer than the suburbs south of it — complexes and estates built from the 1990s onward, with a good deal of construction still ongoing. Pipework is generally younger and in better condition, so the work skews toward compliance, geyser replacement at end of first life, and solar rather than the corrosion problems that dominate older areas. A board that buzzes or smells hot is not a scheduling matter — that is how board fires start.
