    Why Is My Shower Not Hot Enough? Causes and How to Fix It

    A shower that never quite gets hot is a daily annoyance with a handful of specific, fixable causes. The trick is reading whether it is your geyser or just the shower itself. Here is how.

    First test: is it just the shower?

    Run a hot basin or kitchen tap. If they run properly hot but the shower stays lukewarm, the problem is the shower mixer — usually a worn cartridge or thermostatic valve blending in too much cold. Replacing the cartridge fixes it. If every hot tap is lukewarm, the issue is the geyser.

    Geyser causes

    • Thermostat too low or failing — a safe geyser runs around 55–60°C. If it is set right and water is still lukewarm, the thermostat may be faulty.
    • A failing element — only partially heats the tank, so hot water is weak and short-lived.
    • Sediment — reduces capacity and insulates the element (see hot water running out).

    The pressure factor

    Weak hot-water flow mixes with cold and never feels hot, especially in winter. Sorting the pressure — or fitting a pump — restores both flow and warmth.
