Outdoor is not the same as indoor
Outdoor sockets and fittings must be weatherproof (IP-rated), on an earth-leakage-protected circuit, and properly sealed against rain and dust. A normal indoor socket in a weatherproof box is not good enough — moisture finds its way in and trips the power, or worse.
Why outdoor circuits trip
The number-one cause is moisture: rain into a non-rated socket or junction box leaks current to earth and trips the earth leakage. Correct IP-rated fittings and sealing prevent it.
What it costs
A weatherproof socket near an existing circuit is inexpensive; a dedicated run to the gate, garden or pool costs more depending on distance and whether trenching is needed. We quote per job after walking the route with you.
